Petco - Houseplants sold as Aquatic
Dracaena, Spathiphyllum (Peace Lily), Ophiopogon, Trichomanes, Syngonium are sold as Aquatic Combo potted plants. I had purchased a potted plant containing 2 Dracaena and 2 Spathiphyllum.
The Peace Lily contains calcium oxalate crystals, which can cause skin irritation, a burning sensation in the mouth, difficulty swallowing, and nausea. When I googled what these plants were I was angry. I have been hand feeding my German Blue Rams so every day that's where my hand goes and I have been wondering why I've been getting a rash. When I found out these were houseplants I was angry.
Today I took them out and went to Petco for the return without washing my hands off. My eye has been bothering me and I must have rubbed it, now it's swollen and there is a weird excrement coming from it, whether it's related to touching this toxic plant or not I can't tell but I do believe it has something to do with it. Making people believe and selling something it's not is deliberately lying to customers, it's unethical. Where is the diligence?
These plants listed cannot be cut down and stuck under water to grow submersed. This company should be embarrassed and my opinion since some of them are at least mildly toxic whether it's sap leeching into water, touching, or eating these don't even belong in a pet store, period.
Reason of review: Not as described/ advertised.
Petco Cons: Lack of knowledge.

Yesterday, I bought the same combo. I looked up all the names in my aquatic plant dictionary and NONE of them were listed, then I looked online and found that lots of people have had a similar experience.
They are houseplants!
What a disappointment.
Petco should not be selling these plants as aquatics!
2 years later, same issue. I bought two aquatic combo packs yesterday and discovered that if I dig them out of the aquarium fast enough, I might have a couple of decent houseplants. This pretty much guarantees I'm never stepping into the store again.
