Rude and Bullying Petco Manager

I was a loyal customer of the Easton Petco location in Columbus Ohio, and around this time I had just gotten a new bearded dragon with the whole setup: terrarium, food bowl, water bowl, food, crickets, UVA and UVB lights, light fixtures, etc. We spent well over a good 600 bucks there that night for everything.

A week later, we returned to get some spare bulbs and some terrarium decor and spent another 40 or so dollars. After spending a good chunk of money on other pet supplies in the weeks prior, we dropped about 1000.00 or more into that location within a month's time. While standing outside the store waiting on our cab, this large man comes out and approaches us, accusing us rudely of begging customers for money and loitering, and that if we didn't leave he would call the police. I told him that it wasn't us that was doing that, and that it must have been someone else, we're just waiting for our cab to take us home.

The man got more belligerent with us and again accused us of begging for money in front of his store, and it was then that he identified himself as the manager. I told him again that he's mistaken and that we weren't asking anyone for anything. We're waiting on our cab. Well this person obviously was in the mood to bully random people, so he again told us that if he caught us coming by again that we wouldn't be allowed in the store.

I told him, "Look man, this is a *** of a way to treat your good paying customers, especially ones that have put nearly 1000 dollars into your sales over the past couple weeks, so if you want us to continue our business, I suggest you take your accusations somewhere else. I'm waiting for our cab to arrive here, and if you're going to continue to bully and wrongfully and rudely accuse me of doing something that I don't even need to be doing since I have money and I don't need to beg for any handouts, then I can always take my business to another pet store, and they would be more than happy to do business with me and my new bearded dragon." That's when he went silent for a couple seconds and suddenly changed his tune and said "Oh, I'm terribly sorry sir. I must have been given inaccurate information. Please, continue to wait on your cab here..." and being all courteous once I mentioned the amount of money I spent at the store he manages.

To spite him, I have never returned to that Petco location ever again, and as promised, I took my business elsewhere. I went as far as to even protest and boycott that Petco location by telling everyone I knew never to go there, and to go to the pet store I wound up going to instead. The other pet store I went to was more than happy to treat us like paying customers deserve to be treated, so they deserved not only my business but that of my friends as well. I don't know if that manager is still at that Petco location, but caveat emptor....buyer beware.

If you see a burly looking man wearing a Petco badge or look to be in a managerial position, turn around and go to Jack's Pets in the same plaza. That man will bully you with false accusations.

Assistant manager trying to retaliate over complaints

The assistant manager at the Orange City store, Hector, treats employees horribly. He's rude, tells customers that the employees don't know anything about their areas of expertise, and intentionally screws up work his employees have done just so he can pull a power trip and yell at them. Complaints have been filed with corporate and now he's going around the store trying to intimidate employees into telling him who made the complaints. He's obviously looking to get back at whoever complained, as he's done it before with people who lost their jobs almost right after he found out. He's completely unbearable to work with him and the turnover at the definitely reflects this.

Petco - Dog Grooming Service Review

I will NEVER take my dog here again. I took my golden retriever in for a haircut. I was told it wouldn't be any longer than 2 hours and that they would call me when he was done. I went and ran errands and after 2 hours had not heard from them, so I called. They said he had pooped and peed in his kennel all over himself and had to be rebathed. My dog is a year old and has NEVER in his life ever peed or pooped in his kennel. He's well kennel trained. So they told me it would be another 2 hours because they had another dog to do. After 2 hours and no call, I called AGAIN. They said he had pooped AGAIN on himself and they would have to bathe him again. At this point I knew it was ***. I drove to Petco and walked in and my dog was in the back in a kennel. They brought him out and the lady said "You should probably make sure your dog goes to the bathroom before you bring him in." To which I responded "He went to the bathroom right outside before we came, you've had my dog for FOUR AND A HALF hours. Dogs usually have to go to the bathroom within four and a half hours, and my dog is kennel trained, has NEVER gone to the bathroom in his kennel in the entire year I've had him." His haircut was horrible, didn't even look like they did anything. I'll never take him back.

I received my package but it was left in the front porch I live in the second floor in the rear I had a hard time bringing the box up my steps I'm not doing no more business with petco I had to wait until someone pass by I'm very disappointed the u p s should at least bring it up

This is a UPS issue and not a Petco issue. This is a retarded complaint against Petco and you should really remove it.

I don't work for petco, I just hate *** comments against a company that is not their fault.

Come on people - if you are going to make a comment that a business is bad, make sure you have the right complaint in place. What you really should do is write a review about UPS and fault them.

Prescription Food Order

I placed an order for dog food prescribed by vet on April 6th, the vet approved the request for PETCO to fill the order by April 8th. On April 11th, I called to find out status of shipment. I don't believe that the customer service number is being handled by people in this country - which is frustrating. I was told that it was in process and should ship out right away. On April 12, I noticed that my credit card was charged for the order. At the end of that same day I received an email saying that the food was backordered. Seriously, you couldn't let me know that before you went through all the trouble of contacting my vet, nor let me know on the 11th? I cancelled the order and got the food through my vet. They should put a disclaimer on the site that you can add a week to the 5 - 7 day delivery time to get the order approved and processed. I won't order from them again.

Petco - Customer Care Review

I set up a repeat delivery @***.com. I wanted to delete 1 item & replace it w/ another.

I wanted to do so asap b4 the next delivery date. Petco operations won't allow this therefore I had to call. I was on the phone for over 30 minutes! What I want is simple, but Petco operations makes this complicated.

I am leaving out a lot as I am trying to not make this a mini series. Too late. Petco required that I pay right then like I did when I 1st set up the order. But a few days ago I already paid & received my order.

The next time I SHOULD get charged is in a month. It was just a big debacle so I cancelled everything. The CSA was fine but he could only do so much, so I asked for a supervisor. This is just 1 reason why I cannot fully get on the bandwagon of shopping online.

I always end up wasting my life away trying to fix something online or on the phone. When I go in person, BOOM it's done. My 1st CSA was complaining about an echo. I did not have my phone on speaker.

I told him I can't fix that but he acted like he was incapacitated because of the sound of his own stupid voice so I just hung up on him. I wanted to tell him just deal w/ it, let's move on. I don't control technology. I called back & I got a person that was very good.

He understood me, helped me until he couldn't help me anymore. I got a supervisor & she was...I didn't like talking to her. She repeated everything as if she didn't understand not as if she was confirming. She claimed to understand everything yet she repeatedly got confused.

Or maybe she too is frustrated w/ Petco operations like I am. I would rather spend more money by going to a different company & purchase my items in a store.

Petco - Dog Grooming Service Review

Have been using petco for grooming for the past 2 years in WV and was always happy with the service. Last week I brought my dog to the Patchogue NY location and now I will no longer be using petco's grooming services.

I was told it should be about 2 to 2 and a half hours and they would call when she was ready (average at prior petco was 90 minutes tops). After about 3 hrs I called and was placed on hold while they "went to check", I was then told "yes shes ready". When I saw the bill was $65 I was surprised. I had been billed for a doberman - dalmation with an additional brushing/cutting fee of $7.

My dog is an extremely short haired lab/terrior mix, nothing to brush or cut and a bath is all that was requested.

When I questioned the billing the associate would not remove the fee and stated it was standard. Will be taking our dog elsewhere in the future, $65 is just absurd for grooming a dog with short hair .

Ordered a dog bed online, two weeks later they canceled my order. Now usually when you are able to order something they have, otherwise you won't be able to order, but I it'll say out of stock. Petco has lousy inventory control as they'll let people keep ordering stuff even if they don't have enough in stock. So I call customer service and they basically said sorry we ran out, but I and that was that. Couldn't even offer me an alternative at a discount or something else for my trouble and disappointment. Well, i'll take my business totally to Petsmart as I've been very satisfied with online purchases there.

I am very disappointed by the actions of Petco. I have seen numerous employees come and go from that website. The store used to be filled with people of all diversities, and all kinds of ethnic background but now the store is purely one color. I also notice my favorite employees that used to be there Lisa, James, are all gone. I remember Lisa for being there for about three years, James being there for a shorter amount of time. I was always surprised to see Lisa not ever get promoted. When I asked why, they would joke and say its because the store manager refused to promote females. At first I thought they were being sarcastic that is until I go in the store now. All the managers are white males, most of whom are new. I'm shocked and surprised by this. I then Google discrimination at Petco and find numerous articles and cases about the corporation being discriminatory; I also noticed the animals aren't in the best conditions anymore and even found photos of animals being in horrible conditions online. There's even a indie doc about it. I think this is horrible, and horrible Petco is not letting discrimination go on in their stores but also animal lack of care.

This doesn't surprise me at all because the store manager is a complete ***. I've heard and seen him talk down to employees, and walk away from customers. Heck he's walked away from me even after I asked where the cat food was. Very disappointed all the good employees are gone yet he's still around and still an ***.

I understand not all Petco's are like this and some stores really care about their employees and animals; it just saddens me this is happening in my own city.

Former Petco aquatic specialist here, the location I worked until very recently had very petty management as well. That store goes through aquatic specialists like you would not believe.

This is because the aquatic specialist is basically the scapegoat for everything that goes wrong. There were issues with habitats that I had been reporting over and over since I got hired, and over a year later I get fired because a corporate walk revealed that they never bothered to fix these things, and told the corporate guy that I never reported it, even after I pointed out that a manager had written a note on a tank with dry erase regarding the issue.

So much lying to cover their own butts rather than just do their jobs... It's a horrible place to work, and stressed me out to the point of being medicated.

That's terrible that Petco did that to you and your dog, and I'm sure to many others. Basically the dogs that won had cheaply made, overpriced Petco costumes, and that's all They cared about. And the employees relative had NO business winning anything, and as far as I'm concerned, Petco should give 15% off to all customers that bring their pets in on Halloween in costumes, and then 50 % to 1st place, 40%to 2nd and 30 % to third, especially a company that makes money hand over fist on pet owners with ridiculous prices and a staff that 99% of them have NO clue about dogs, cat's, fish ect, they need to hire staff for each section of the store that understands each area that they work in, create a great professional atmosphere and their business would double. STOP hiring 16 year olds at a awful pay scale that have no idea about what Petco is supposed to be about. *** I had to walk away from their so called dog training classes with some woman having NO idea what dog training is about, each breed especially when they are past 4 to 5 months have different needs when it comes to their needs, I understand that a puppy class can work with pups and their human pack member for the basic principles, personally though as a dog trainer, I would even break those up into different breeds, but bottom line is what happened to you is typical and sad, and eventually Petco will go out of business with these issues, and God forbid they have to put more money into this company, but in the long run they would see the profits become great, and become a truly great place for pet owners, but these issues are becoming worse and they will tank..... you don't know how bad I would love to sit with the CEO and the board of directors and show them a company that makes sense. But as long as consumers continue to return after terrible situations they will NEVER give a *** about the situation. Sincerely MV Wisconsin

Kept My Dog and Never Groomed Her

I took my dog in for the first time today to be groomed at their Heath Ohio store. I knew something was off as the groomer was not there when I arrived.

They said she left to "change her clothes" because she didn't like her sweat pants. So I said I am not leaving my dog unless I meet the groomer. Finally she showed up. Seemed nice.

Said the dog would be done AT THE LATEST in 3 hours. And she would send me a text in 5 mins and for me to reply yes and then she would text when the dog was done. Never got a text. Never got a call I showed up a bit past the 3 hours and asked for my dog.

Waited and Waited. No dog. Finally the groomer comes out and plays with the computer. Then she says "I didn't finish her" I said "how much did you get done?" and she says nothing.

Yeah I lost it a bit and asked for the 3rd time for them to bring me my dog. She disappears again. I look at the guy at the register and tell him if they don't bring my dog I will go get her. He tells me to "just relax" That of course esculated the entire thing.

To top it off my dog was dying of thirst.

They gave her no water the entire time she was there. They should be banned from grooming dogs

Petco is the worst at grooming! They left my dog half way done because the groomer said they were “overbooked” even though I called a week in advance to make an appointment. When I asked her to finish at least his face she refused and said “sorry we are overbooked and I wasn’t even suppose to work with your dog I just took him on because the other groomer was absent.” My dog looks worse than before!!!

Normally, I love this place. I've never had a bad experience.... until today. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, so I figured I'd take my pup to the groomer there. Bad idea! The groomer lifted my dog up by the harness he was wearing onto the table and was really forceful with him (she swung him hard on to the table because she couldn't lift him!). He looked like he was in pain and it made me cringe watching it- you just don't treat animals that way! Then, the workers proceeded to insult my pup over and over again by saying things like "he's so stubborn, he needs obedience classes," etc. My pup was NERVOUS. It was his first time going to the groomer and he was being hurt! Nonetheless, I was there to get my pup groomed, not to get an opinion about what they thought he needed, and if I wanted an opinion I would have asked! It was not a very pleasant experience for me or my pup and we will not be going back. I am so angry over the way my pup was treated here, and I would recommend retraining for the groomers because the way they handled the whole situation was completely ineffective. On top of everything, my pup's nails are still long, and I'll have to cut them myself after paying for a service that should have been provided. Ugh!

PETCO ABUSED MY DOG

My dog Beau was taken into the Lakeland Florida Petco location on 9/28/2016 for a full service cut and buffered nail was additional;Emily was going to be the person to take care of this service. I presented a coupon of $10.00 and was told to hold on to it until I picked him up and during this time I let her know that I wanted half of his hair off and a poodle puff and round nose cut she seem to be perplexed and bucked her eyes and told me that my dog would be ready about three hours, this was about 2:10pm. I received a voice message at 4:10 or so from Emily stating that my dog had diarrhea three times and she bathe him three times and was unable to finished him. I went to Petco to get him and he was screaming and barking very loud...she claimed that he had some sort of separation stress and that he missed me because I told her that he had been boarded for seventeen days due to a family emergency that caused me to leave town unexpectedly. He was wet and I asked that she dry him off before giving him to me and I asked to be present during this time because he was so loud and I wanted him to see that i was present and that he would be O.K. He barked and yelled at her while foaming at the mouth; this is not his personality, he hadn't respond to any grooming salon ever in this matter.Emily told me that she was attempting to thin out his ears that was matted, he was not brought in like this. I asked that the manager call me, she failed to do so I went into the store the next morning to talk to her about this incident and she promised to call me back when she talked to her employee she failed to do that. This is not the first incident at this location, her employees are rude and abused my dog, this is unacceptable and must be address appropriately. It appeared as if she let him stay in the kennel for two hours or more then took him out and bathe him and mistreated him while thinning out his ears, because he was crying and barking...on Tuesday while speaking with the manager, Peggy, he pooped in the store three times and outside the store he *** twice at the door (a sign of anger) he had pooped earlier at home after his walk two times and I took the solid *** that he had both times to the vet to be tested because she alleged that he had diarrhea three times and she could not service him. The vet test came out that no diarrhea was present and therefore she lied. She had no intention of cutting his hair; I am not sure if the coupon pissed her off or what exactly did but she should be fired from PETCO for mistreating my dog. I had to get him shaved due to the matted hair that the boarding place may have contributed to also the three baths that Emily gave him using a hose dryer to dry him contributed to his matted ears that should not have been done

What proof do you have that she abused your dog? Sounds more to me like your dog was stressed about having been boarded for two and a half weeks, and was nervous that you were going to be leaving him again.

Scheduled appointment was apparently not scheduled

I have been a customer at the santa rosa (CA) petco for several years and have also been using the grooming service as well . .

. this week I made an appointment -- or thought I had -- for my dog to have a bath and a trim . . i was given an appointment card for Wednesday, 4:30 p.m.

. . . but when i arrived i was told my appointment was not on the books even though i had a card that said it was indeed for Wednesday, 4:30 p.m.

i had re-arranged my day to make it by 4:30 . . . on top of that, it was a very rainy day and traffic was bad, but i didn't mind in order to get my flatcoated retriever, tag, looking good .

. . the girl in the grooming salon said they had no appointment on their books, that maybe i was mistaken . .

. i was not . . .

she said her shift was up soon and that left only one groomer to handle remaining appointments . . . i have been pleased with grooming results, but am no considering taking take elsewhere .

. . all in all, very disappointing . .
