This is mainly about not taking care of their employees. Chris Weirda, hr manager, gave his son a GM position in his store. How can employees file a complaint if the manager does something wrongly if the complaint is going to the manager's father who will squash it before corporate gets it?

Petco - DO NOT sign up for the newsletter!

Never ever ever sign up for the Petco newsletter! I signed up when I had a dog because I purchased something from them and thought it might be nice to get some good deals. But now I no longer have a dog and I unsubscribed SIX days ago, but I am still receiving emails from them. After three days and seven emails later, I contacted them to tell them to please remove me from their database for good and they responded saying that they would do so. Three more days have gone by and I have received eight more emails from them. What part of UNSUBSCRIBE do they not understand?

Petco - Work Experience Review from Vienna, Virginia

I work as a dog groomer. The salon manager we had was taken from us and transferred to another store because they apparently needed her more than us. Had no salon manager from January 1st to mid March. The new GSM they hired is horrible. She came in and told me I was lazy and took away the chair we use to work at the computer. Then she changed all the rules. One groomer quit after only a week with the new GSM. Since then she has called out or just not shown up to work more times than she has actually come in. When she does show up she doesn't even work, she does paperwork or talked with sales associates on the floor. I have complained multiple times to the store managers and the district manager but they won't do anything. We have talked to our old GSM they took away from us, but the district manager said we were not allowed to talk to her anymore. The new GSM must have someone pulling strings for her high up in company ranks because there is no way she should still have a job. Both me and the other groomer are about to quit because we are fed up with this ***.

And for anyone dismissing this....just search the petco in chesterfield Va and the dog they killed... And how rudely they treated the owner before they told they killed her baby (actually they left telling her the dog had died up to the Vet)...and they are now trying to cover their *** by stating they don't use heated drying cages...various accounts that the dog was left in it up to 4 hours before dying...

I work there, the manager did everything wrong and all the groomers were fired because they did their job wrong. Its terrible what happened but individuals did this not the company as a whole.

This is like you catching the flu at the grocery store. It's a disease that occurs in all places with a large amount of pets. A dog making frequent groomer trips, or even frequent trips to a pet store, should be vaccinated.

I have never had any dealings with Petco (not surprisingly as I don't have any pets), but I get from two to five emails from them each day. Often these are offering free shipping. Would shipping to the United Kingdom REALLY be free, I wonder.

Petco grooming - terrible

First time getting my poodle groomed here. I was so excited for her haircut. She was all hairy. They took four hours to groom her. When i came for her my dog came running to me and was crying. I barely recognized her. I was so upset. She was literally naked. I asked what happened and they kept saying she was all matted but thats no excuse to leave her with no hair. In addition, she had a cut near her mouth and she has been depressed ever since. Horrible. Im never taking her back here. Its petco in 86st and 25st in brooklyn, ny

Your dog was matted because of your neglect and even though the de-matting process is extremely painful for your dog to endure.... You're right. That is no excuse to leave your dog with no hair. What a horrible groomer.

How dare she not want to hurt your sweet matted little baby. I think you're making the right call NEVER going back.

Petco - Lizard Review from Amarillo, Texas

I had just walked in to browse some of the lizards, upon looking at them as well as the crabs and snakes, I was truly disgusted. The habitats in which they were kept were filthy and these reptiles and the crab were not moving, they looked sick, depressed and lonely. This is abuse to these creatures. If you're going to buy anything of the sorts, don't buy from petco/petsmart. Most things, besides fish, that are bought from petco end up sick and some die. It's rather sickening.
