Petco, Phillipsburg New Jersey

I would like to say, I LOVE this place, some of the groomers are very friendly, some are not. I have several complaints: I have had to set up FOUR grooming appointments due to the groomer never coming to work, I'll get a phone call the night before my appointment "Hi this is ____ from petco grooming salon, just wanted to let you know your groomer called out, we will have to reschedule you." To me this is absurd, if you are always calling out of work, why my dear do you still have a job? There is this other girl, who is very rude, She has an eyebrow piercing, and lip, I can not remember her name, but I will walk up to the desk to set up and appointment, and she will get up and walk away! not even awknowledge me!! I have seen her do this with other customers as well, when I pick my dog up. All the other girls are very friendly and helpful! Other than these two girls I would recommend checking out the salon they do an outstanding job!

The girl you are referring to is Ashley. She has been doing this for years makes no sense to keep someone like that there but I'm sure someone will notice eventually and get her out, everytime I saw her she was on her cellphone or outside with some guy which I'm assuming may be a boyfriend, some people have no work ethic and need to just find an office job answering phones not doing a job like that! :eek

We have seen numerous times that the hatchling bearded dragons and geckos were being given crickets that were much too big for them to swallow, they were allowed to be bitten repeatedly by the crickets and when we mentioned it to the manager, he said, "We don't...

I completely agree. I've said for years that Petco should not sell reptiles at all.

I've turned numerous customers away from reptiles just by telling them everything they need which they didn't expect and had plenty of people come in after buying a reptile in which no one had told them half of what they needed. We get them in way to young, the vivs aren't fully sealed so larger crickets can get into the vivs next door even into ones that aren't carnivores.

We also can't adequately control temps & humity w/no sealed vivs with desert & tropical reps next to each other. It's very sad as a reptile owner having to see this everyday and not being able to doing anything about it even when brought up to mulitple people....

Ex Employee Of Petco

Update by user Sep 05, 2012

Still no answers to any of my questions from Petco. No on has called me back or sent letters to answer any of my questions.

The credit watch that they gave us a free membership to I can\'t even sign into.

What a joke. I hope no one ever has to go through this ***!!!

Just wanted to let everyone know if you worked for Petco in 2010 in Illinois there is a GREAT chance you are now a victim of ID theft!!! I received a letter in the mail and was told 5 lap tops were stolen from there auditers in May of this year and Petco states they weren't notified until July 3 ??? I just received a letter yesterday???? 3 months have gone by and they have no answers to any of my questions when I called there Headquarters in CA where the laptops were stolen. My question to you is how can you just let this slide by offering a years membership to a company to moniter our credit and not be able to answer any questions as to the delay of informing us about this. Have you done back ground checks on these auditers? They don't seem to be very trust worthy if they let this slide and not inform you for 6 weeks and you don't seem to be that great not to let us know about this for over a month!!!!

Petco selling water filter systems; filters not being made anymore

PETCO stores still selling PETCO Power Filter Systems for aquatic animals. The filter cartridges for this system are out of stock and not available anywhere, not even the internet. How can they continue selling a product which you can't use anymore? This is unethical and an example of abuse of customer trust. I won't buy PETCO brands any longer. I needed to go out and but a new system while my PETCO system is less than a year old. I spoke to the manager of the Succasunna NJ PETCO store who had nothing to say about the discontinued filter cartridges while the Water filter system is still being sold.

QUOTE: "Simply because it is a discontinued product, does that mean it is bad?"

The answer is: YES, it's bad.

If you can't use a newly purchased product, IT'S BAD!!! Hello, it doesn't take a genius to figure that one out.

Sorry bubby, but when something is sold, and you know darned well that it will not be supported, it's completely un-fair to the consumer! If you don't like having stock that you are stuck with from your corporate HQ, too bad!

Petco should not sell products that they have no intention of supporting! I was also was stuck with a fishtank filter that was less than a year old and so was my girlfriend, and we feel ripped-off!

Trust me, we will not be purchasing ANY Petco brand products ever again. :(

Simply because it is a discontinued product, does that mean it is bad? How do you come off calling us abusers?

When any product gets discontinued unless for health reason, we can and still will sell off the rest of our stock.

If we have $100,000 of discontinued filters, do you really think we are going to eat the loss or simply and legally sell the remaining stock? *** even bars were allowed to sell remaining stock of liquor after the prohibition.

I worked for Petco for a little over a year and a half. As much as I love working with reptiles, dealing with higher management made my job impossible. My store GM (who is sadly now a DM), made his dislike for me clear to everyone. Even customers. Is underminding and...

I understand what you are saying except that at our local Petco....the customer does not come first. The manager does.

If we bring back dead feederst that are supposed to be alive, he accuses us of lying. If we tell him that he is killing some of the reptiles by feeding them the wrong thing, he argues with us, even if we show him in his own book off the shelf that he is putting them at risk.

He is rude, argumentative and does not care a thing about the animals. The vivs are always full of *** and the hatchlings are given food that is way too big for them to swallow...so they just go hungry.

I stay away from there as much as possible, but there are times that we have to get something in a pinch. I hate giving them my business.

Petco Mostly Very Good Service

I have been frequenting Petco in Sioux City, Iowa for the better part of 12 years now. I have always found the employees in the sales departments to be very knowledgeable and courteous. And they all seemed to care about the animals. I've only taken my dogs to get a bath/shampoo on two occassions at Petco. I usually give my dog a bath myself. However, in the winter time it can be a bit more difficult. The first time I had no complaints, but the second time I could smell burnt hair. Obviously a hand dryer used too closely or at a setting too hot. A number of reasons could cause someone to be in such a hurry. Not important! My dog was not taken care of properly and safely. Thus, I have never taken my dog back to the groomer there. Only to my vet when absolutely needed. To repeat: Not happy with the grooming part of Petco. However, the actual store part has been just fine for me.

Darkwraith - I had a very similar situation. I left petco a couple of weeks ago.

The next pay day came and my pay didn't deposit into my account like it normally does. So I called HR and they told me it was on this "pay card". Well I still had the card, thankfully, I had never used it because I didn't want to. I told HR I don't want my pay on this card...I want it via a check.

I was told once it's on this card i'm stuck. When I first started I didn't get my first check until about 3 or 4 weeks after I started. I thought the new hire paper work was slow - no, I got my first pay on this "pay card" also! After I stated in my new hire paper work that I did not want to be paid with this card!!!

SO I ended up losing money through fees on the card because I never knew I was paid on it! I wasted a ton of my time having to figure out how to activate this card so I could get my money off of it. I am very disappointed with petco because they thought they could pay me on this card without my consent!!!!!

If you can help it don't work for petco!!!

Petco in Larchmont, New York - Marketing stickers

Just bought a dog food storage container, whats with the bullet proof marketing stickers. Seriously, who wants a large unappealing company sticker on a large plastic storage bin. So I try and remove it with hot water and Kryptonite. No luck, so I try goof off and long range artillery. Still no luck. I tried every thing short of destroying the container, finally I try scraping off the paper with a knife, great but it leaves an adhesive mess and being pissed off at the time I became careless and cut myself. So I now I'm an ***, thanks petco. Easy peel stickers can't be that expensive.

How can you blame a company for a sticker on a product they bought and then sold? Do you think petco itself MADE that storage bin?

Don't you have better things in life to do than her upset about dumb ***? Who cares if the sticker is on it..?

Petco in Temple City, California - Betta Fishes Are Diseased and Dead

Today I went to Petco in Montebello, CA to bring home another female betta. ALL of the umpteen bowls where the betta fishes are displayed are DIRTY, FILTHY! ALL of the bettas are sick! This is not just! The employee(s) OVERFEED these fishes, and there is definitely a lack of care! This Petco USED to be good. It is irritating to know that this condition exists! Don't buy one here. They are all diseased and some are DEAD. I hope they get in trouble so they can clean up their act. This store is DISGUSTING! Where is the RESPECT for life? and concern for their Creator?

ILL GO TO PETCO

My fiancée works at Petsmart and I come in to buy our dogs treats, bones, toys, etc and apparently people are mad that I come in all the time to buy my DOG stuff. And wait for not even 5 mins for her to get off work since we have only one car. I will never step foot inside this store and will never spend another dime of my money in this place. *** petsmart! PETCO here I come! I spent about $50 a week at petsmart, so its their loss! Apparently they dont know a customer when they see one, even if it is a associates significant other!
