Update by user Nov 30, 2011

Finally recieved an e-mail from petco, said they would be crediting my account. It has now been 3 days and not there yet, going to start sending them e-mails again to find up what is going on.

Original review posted by user Nov 28, 2011

I placed an order for a dog run from petco online on11/9/11 and canceled it the same day within an hour, it was still delivered 6 days later and refused and set back on ups truck. I have been calling and e-mailing since then have not gotten a call or e-mail back from them. Do not order online with this place, I will not even shop at there store again after reading some of the things on this site. Oh I forgot to say that the tracking # they gave me was for FedX and it came UPS.

Before buying from Petco, you may want to check prices with other stores.

I live near a PetSmart, so I usually do all my pet shopping there. Today, my husband was near a PetCo in Toms River, so I asked him to pick up two bags of dog food and a bag of dog treats. The 24 pound bag of dog food that we buy for $49.99 at PetSmart, was $51.99 at Petco. That was no big deal......... HOWEVER, the 32 oz package of yam dog treats that we pay $10.99 for at PetSmart was $34.99 at PetCo....... Yes, that is correct, a $24 difference in price for the exact same item. My husband called to ask me if I pay $35 for those yams. I told him that he must be reading the wrong sticker. I had him go up to get a price check. Sure enough, it rang up $34.99!!! He even spoke to a manager that confirmed the price. To be fair to Petco, they did call PetSmart to check on their selling price and then they matched the price, but that is a HUGE price difference. Too bad he didn't think about getting the price match for the food too.

I'm not surprised. We employees are always telling corporate that were are overpriced on alot of items but they don't care.

They obviously think consumers are "too ***" to notice! HA!

I don't know where you can file a "compliant" and what's a customeri?

I do know of a couple grammar books that could help you. Maybe that's the problem. You can hardly read, so you couldn't understand your receipt?!

The base price for a poodle haircut at Petco should only be around $45-$51 depending on the haircut you requested. Additional charges would be assessed if the dog is 1) severely matted or 2) requires extra scissoring both of which require additional time be spent by the groomer.

Groomers are paid a commission per dog and I guarantee you the groomer isn't getting "all of the commission". What was added to the bill that you did not sign for when you signed the grooming estimate?

If services were provided that you DID NOT agree to when you dropped your dog off for grooming then you should not be paying for them. However the fact that you felt the need to comment on the groomer's weight as if that had ANYTHING at all to do with the services you were provided indicates to me that you are probably just complain to hear yourself talk.

Once again I have been messed up by Petco. I tried to give them my online business and they messed up the order and now all I can do is call the Phillipines AGAIN.

I have spoken to the people in the Phillipines at least 8 times this year and I have had enough. Between their having to merge a duplication of accounts (their fault) and messed up orders.

It is too frustrating anymore. So, Petsmart, here I come with my monthly expenditure of anywhere from 75.00 to 150.00...ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN DEALING WITH PETCO...they could care less about the customer

Petco Pet Grooming Sucks

Took my Golden Retriever to Petco, 1020 NE Coronado Drive, Blue Springs, MO 64014 for a bath/grooming and have NEVER seen a worse grooming job in my life. They hacked off her hair, it's uneven, she no longer looks like a golden, I don't think they brushed her at all and it appears the cutter they used on her nails was dull as they are all uneven and chopped too. I do NOT recommend their services. The managers only comment was that I could bring her back to be fixed. Why would I allow them a second chance to scalp off unevenly what little hair she has left? I am currently working through corporate to get my money refunded. Now I know why they make you pay before they show you your dog!

Took my golden Charlie to get a bath 2 months ago at the Granada Hills location, showed them his vaccination records, they gave him a bath and everything went fine. I had an appointment today , drove all the way out there (more than 15 miles from my home) for them to tell me that they couldnt groom him because his vaccinations needed "stickers " and i needed every receipt from his prior shots (who keeps every receipt from the vet?) I told them I had been there two months ago and they accepted his vaccination record and she said it must have just been a nail clipping -____- .

I guess i paid $60 to get his nails clipped and was never told. Never go here, they are ***

They are the worst I've ever seen. Yes my dog is used to being groomed not only that she is the most passive dog you will ever meet.

I've unfortunately given petco THREE chances every single time they have blown it.

I will never use their services again. Did it ever occur to you that the reason customers didn't pay was because Petco Ruined and I mean ruined their animals???

#370269

And BTW, the reason you are asked to pay before you get your pet is because so many customers walk out without paying their bill. When this happens the groomer doesn't get paid. If a service is truly not done correctly and the haircut cannot be fixed and the price is refunded the groomer doesn't get paid.

Did you ask for your Golden Retriever to have it's hair cut? If so, what length did you ask that the hair be left?

Was she matted? Most Goldens have an undercoat and that makes trimming the hair evenly very difficult especially if you asked for it to be left more than 3/8" long all over. How old is your dog? Has she been groomed before and if so, how often.

It is not easy to groom dogs that are not used to being groomed no matter what size they are. Is she good when having her nails clipped? Some dogs are not and that can result in an uneven cut to the nails as well.

If the hair is already short why not let the salon go ahead and attempt to even up the haircut. It's hair-it will grow back you know.

I was a loyal customer of store number 1325 until I was mistreated and disrespected over and over by several employees. I was over charged and had to take my dog home half groomed. That isn't all either! They did a grooming service I did not ask for and overcharged me....

Petco cheated me out of my free bag of cat foodE

Every time I buy the 17.5 bag of Hill's science cat food my receipt states I have purchased 6 out of 10 bags. Which means I need to purchase 4 more bags before a certain date to receive a free bag. The date is so close to my purchase date that it makes it impossible to attain! And I believe this is a scam to prevent them from giving away large bags of pet food.My receipt is always the same ...6 out of 10 bags purchased! Come on guys. Play fair!Give me my free food now.

Petco isn't out to "scam" you. Something's obviously not registering when you buy your food.

To correct the problem you need to call 888-824-PALS. Unfortunately there's nothing that the store can do in this situation. The PALS program is handled by another department withing petco.

Honestly, it's really hard for cat customers to earn a free big bag of food because cats don't eat as much as dogs. Plus you only have (had) 12 months to purchase ten bags to get your coupon for the free one.

It's not enough time unless you buy in bulk in the 12th month. I had to buy 3 bags at one time to earn my coupon in time.

Beginning this month Petco will no longer be doing the Free food program. Instead they will be starting a Petco Rewards program.

For every $100 you spend you get $5 in Petco bucks to be used any way you wish and you will be able to combine coupons. This new program will be more inclusive of ALL Petco customers not just those that buy dog/cat food and have their pets groomed:-)

Also if you suspect there is a problem with the number of bags they have counted you can always call the 1800 # on the back of your petco PALs card. If youve lost your petco PALS card you can call any petco and ask for that number. If you have been cheated out of a bag they will correct the computer error and give you what rightfully maybe yours :)

Um... I understand the frustration, but really....

You have to by the 10 bags within what, a 12 month period? And by the time you buy a new bag one of the previously purchased bags no longer counts because it's outside that 12 month window from the most recent purchase? -shrugs- it's the program rules. You were aware of it when you started participating...

Why not just go ahead and by a few bags at once to meet the quota and get ur free bag and have basically have extra pet food waiting in ur house? You won't have to go shopping for it for a while:-P
