On 4/28/11 @ 11:55 AM, I went into the PETCO store @ The Mall of Georgia. I was their to purchase a battery for my dog's PETSAFE collar. I had called the previous day and confirmed that they had the item in stock. I asked the employee, Raynisha, for the item of which...

Please don't shop at Petco

They have terrible customer service in the store I went into. I am also concerned about the welfare of the animals they sell there. The store I went into told me that they don't have a manager when I requested to see one. I needed to return an item and had my receipt. This guy was so lame. He could barely form a sentence, I asked to speak to the District Manager, Regional Manager..nothing. It has been a month and I have called CS 4 times without a response. Every time I call they tell me the same thing, someone will get back to you and they don't. They also have their CS in a different country.

There is suppose to be a manager in the store at all times. So either they're lying or you are to make your complaint sound even worse than it is.

Do you have an actual description of poor customer service; a situation or exchange, ect?

because it sounds like you are just whining for no reason.

I'm sorry, but you ARE abusing the fish.A 10 gallon tank?!Do you know how small that is for TEN fish? They have every right to refuse a sale if they don't think you intend/want to take care of it properly. It's bull when it's for no reason(even if you take proper care of animals).

If they refused you for no good reason, you are justified in your assery, but you are not.

Not only did you complain like an ***,you did it even though they were justified in refusing your service!

Something similar happened to me at a different Petco, they refused to sell me any more animals for no reason apparently.I was willing to take good care of them, why did they refuse? >:(

PETCO doesnt care if hamster destroys cage

Store sold me a hamster cage that was destroyed by the hamster: she got out 3 times. I had the receipt and the cage went in within a month of buying the cage and they said they could not do anyhthing. I went into the store and the lady made up a random thing saying that chew toys can be destroyed byt he animal and its not their fault then i told her chew toys are made to be destroyed and she got mad because I was right. She made sure she got back at me for proving her wrong. I CALLED PETSMART AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD REFUND ME OR EXCHANGE FOR ANOTHER CAGE PETCO DOES NOT CARE IF YOUR PETS CAN GET INJURED THROUGH ESCAPING.

ok...what ever you typed made no sense. First off did they sell you a "damaged" cage ( i.e.

Oops stickered, discounted, etc.)How did your hamster destroy the cage? I have 2 very large guniea pigs whom have much lager mouths also teeth then a hamster and never ate through any of their cages. Yes "chew" toys can be damaged by the animal not all toys are supposed to be chewed completely like plastic and such. Only the safe parts like the straw part or the treat part not the parts that hold it together sometimes.

Switch to toys he can eat fully. And did i read this right you took a damaged cage you bought from Petco and returned it at Petsmart? Sounds to me someone was doing some dumspter diving found a cage and wanted to make a quick buck.

Also did you buy the correct cage?

If the employee pointed you in the wrong direction for the cage thats a human error. People before you get pets research what you need, whats best on market, and just be smart about it.

Maybe you're ok with your cat dying due to his age and the amount of stress that grooming causes, but maybe think of how the groomed would feel if they cat died in her care. Stop thinking of yourself for once and think of the cat and the groomed. Selfish pig

Petco in Los Angeles, California - Andrew, the manager! was a total rude *** to me about a return....a total ***!!

I recently went to the local PETCO I had purchased 2 dog kennels there, and told them that I'd like them to hold them at the store for me......I had to drive to an out of town location to see if they would both fit my truck. They told me no problem......take as long as you want....I found out that they did not fit and went to the store today for a refund on merchandise that I hadn't even taken from the store...and this rude little manager Andrew, who must bee all of 19, proceeded to tell me that it was over 30 days, and I couldn't get a refund.....I asked to see the manager...and he boastfully told me HE WAS the manager! I explained to him that when I purchased the items that I wasn't told about any time period....in fact I was told not to worry about it when I told them that it might take me a couple of weeks! ....but the part that really got to me was this young punks attitude.....what a total ***!

Did you ask the guy what his age was? I highly doubt that you did.

I guess your fear of getting old must have really kicked in when you saw such a "young" manager who in reality was probably much older than he looked.

I've been a manager for a long time, and I have a very young face. I'm near 30 years old and I've been told recently that I look like I'm only 14! Customers have always given many funny looks when I PROUDLY (not boastfullY) tell them that I am the manager.

They think I'm just a kid and that's exactly how they treat me.

My point is, you shouldn't pick on the manager's age and appearance just because you didn't like the fact that he was following policy on returns.

Although none of us were there except for the customer and the manager, besides the possibility of the manager maybe being egocentric in his position as manager, he did follow the policy that Petco has regarding returns. That being said as a consumer if you already had a good relationship with the staff and management that was at the store the day you made the purchase, you could have simply picked up the phone, asked to speak to a manager, explain the situation and that it would be over 30 days before you were able to return them and 99% of the managers out there would have accommodated you.

The customer is not always right, nor are they entitled to having retail staff bend over backwards for the customer. We do it because we want to help the customer and as long as they communicate with us we do what we can to help them out.

First of all, I think it's pretty standard for any retail store to have a 30-day return policy. I don't know why you would think that you can just return an item to a store for a refund whenever you feel like it.

Second, it's on the back of your Petco receipt. Third, if you told them a "couple of weeks" and they said that was fine, it's not their fault you waited over a month to return the kennels. You also mention the manager's age and attitude but don't describe in any way what he did that was wrong. Seems to me you resented being told "no" by someone so young.

If you have the luxury of taking over a month to get your money back for two expensive items like dog kennels, and then get pissed when the store refuses, you're an entitled ***. Get the chip off your shoulder.

Petco lies, has terrible policies, and costumer service!

This is my petco experience a salesperson at our local petco clarence, ny sold my husband the wrong size filter.since it was xmas I didn't discover the problem until christmas morning. my husband returned it with a receipt. The manager there would only give him store credit because it was after 30 days even with a receipt. it was christmas time and my husband is not a last minute shopper! Every business extends their policy for the holidays!! It was also clearly unopened! So anyway I take my store credit and purchase an eheim classic 2217 filter which their website states is instock they still do. 2 months have gone by no filter! We have tried contacting them, my emails get blown off. Annie B. Customer Relations Coordinator keeps telling me she will out of the office for 3 days call a rep instead. She acts like I'm bothering her. when we do call the reps lie over and over again saying that it is instock now you will get it. Guess what never happens. This is an incredibly bad company with terrible policy and dishonest workers. I will be contacting BBB also. I found this website as I was looking for the ceo contact info so I thought I'd add my complaint. Also have found so many sad abuse cases unreal.why is this company still in business?

I agree there was a recent recall for some aquarium heaters petsmart took them all back and replaced them or gave out store credit.didn't matter where you got them or how old they were.

I asked why they were doing this and they said they'd rather do this then have customers fish die! I am now a loyal petsmart customer. I will never shop at petco again!

Go to a local fish retailer...or if there aren't any...go to PetSmart :) I've taken items back to PetSmart that I got at Petco and couldn't return because of their policies b4. They have much better customer service :)

Petco has rude groomers and they do horrible work.

I took my dog to Petco today to get groomed and shaved. The groomer there was Pscyho. She said it would take 2 hours and it took 5. After two hours when I called her on the phone she yelled at me and said she's busy. When I went to pick her up she was nasty in front of customers and would not even let me look at my dog. They did not shave her pads, they nicked her several times and they are just plain RUDE and there was no manager there to see what happened but another worker who claimed he was an assistant manager saw it all and never even apologized. I'll go to another groomer next time. If you must go to a pet store groomer your better off at PESTMART

Unfortunatly it sounds like u had a bad groomer or perhaps caught her on a bad day but you cant blame a whole chain for ones mistakes their are many people who work under those same policies that do everything to ensure that you and your per have a great time my local petco groomer is great unfortunatly i can not say the same about the local petsmart but again its the people that make the experience...

As an active member of local animal rescue agencies, I can tell you I often wash dogs in stores kind enough to loan us their facilities for adopt-o-thons. I have spoken to many groomers. First, they don't get paid jack. They get dogs that don't know how to behave & owners that don't understand that..or behave any better themselves. That groomer sounds over worked & underpaid.

The best groomers make & stick to appts. and usually are not found in chain pet stores. Go to their house or their shop, not a big box chain store. And leaving your dog for that long under such busy conditions as you describe is rather cruel.. the dog doesn't learn that it's a good experience which only compounds the problem over time. I tell ya, I wash the hardest dogs last.

If you really want to do what's best for your dog, find someone who can do it in a calm, stable environment. Your dog will learn to enjoy it. Dare I suggest you can maybe even swap your time working at a no kill shelter for a grooming session? We do that all the time. You may even make new friends, the 2 & 4 footed kind!

PETCO -- Horrible customer service

I normally make all of my purchases and grooming from the Altamonte Sps FL PETCO with the exception of a bag of nutro dog food that I purchased from the Orlando - Colonial Drive location. I purchased a bag of dog food that got my 2 dogs very ill. My vet stated that the food is contaminated (both dogs ate the food for 2 days before becoming ill). I walked in to the Altamonte Petco location with the intent to exchange it, but was told that it could not be exchanged because it was not purchased there. I had my credit card statement and pals card with me, but this was not good enough. The store clerk redirected me to the Orlando - Colonial drive location. I had to drive 30 minutes into downtown to make an exchange, unacceptable. The management there was exceptional and made the transaction happen without any hesitation. The staff at this location was professional, courteous and felt extremely bad that both of my dogs got ill from this product. As a consumer I found this treatment unreasonable and unacceptable and will no longer be making any purchases from Petco. I submitted an online complaint to Petco and received a canned email template response from Bles D. explaining their return policy. She clearly did not read or comprehend my complaint. Unacceptable customer service.
